This regular sitting group is led by Rick Hanson (with occasional guest teachers) on Wednesday evenings in San Rafael, California. The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly, and focused, and newcomers are always welcome.
Its approach is gently Buddhist - though you certainly don't need to be "Buddhist" to come and get value, nor do you need any prior experience with meditation. We are grounded in the Vipassana tradition, and very friendly and inclusive toward Zen and Tibetan approaches.
"Early-bird" meditation begins at 6:45 pm with formal instruction at 7:00, break at 7:30, and talk and discussion from 7:40 - 8:30. We meet in the front room at Falkirk Mansion on Mission near E Street, and you can park in the large parking lot to the left of the Mansion as you face it.
In the meantime you can listen to a recent talk, linked below (most recent are at the bottom of the list of talks) or look through some related writings (also linked below). Also check out the Facebook group, "San Rafael Meditation" for this week's suggested practice, ridesharing, and other information.
Regular meditation is one of the very best ways to cultivate the brain states of peace, wholeheartedness, self-awareness, steadiness of mind, and happiness - as well as strengthen the immune system and nurture other health benefits. And one of the best ways to support regular meditation is to participate in a regular sitting group. We hope you will join us!
